Autumnal Biscuit Factory Wedding in Leith, Edinburgh

“Fucking nuts” is really the only way to sum up Rosie and Fraser’s achingly cool, super stylish wedding at the Biscuit Factory. As it was October there was only one choice when it came to venue decor – yep, you guessed it. Pumpkins. There were pumpkins galore. Huge orange beasts, wee white things, funny little multi coloured ones and the lesser spotted disco pumpkin. So SO cool.

This is, I warn you, a lengthy old blog post. I tried to cut it down to my absolute favourite images but it turns out, they’re pretty much all my favourites. So grab a brew, get yourself some biscuits (what else!) and enjoy!

History of the Biscuit Factory, Edinburgh

Brace yourselves, I may overuse the word “cool” throughout this post. Because there really is no other word to sum up the mega awesome vibes of the day. Everything was just, well, cool. And they had chosen the coolest wedding venue in Edinburgh. Maybe even in Scotland. The Biscuit Factory.

Way back in the 1940s and 50s it was an actual Crawford’s Biscuit factory. My favourite biscuit is, obviously, a Kit Kat. The chunky version is the Queen of all biscuits. And I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise. If you’ve not heard of Crawford’s don’t worry, I hadn’t either. Turns out though that they’re now part of McVitie’s, AKA biscuit giants of the UK!

Nowadays the Biscuit Factory – which is in Leith – is home to arts studios, creative businesses, loads of exhibition spaces and a gin distillery. It’s also hosted gigs by none other than Mike Skinner (him of The Streets fame), some world class DJs who I’m not hip enough to have heard of and the rather biscuity monikered Scottish legend, Gerry Cinnamon.

But forget about all those famous types, the Biscuit Factory will now, amongst certain circles, forever be known as the place that Rosie and Fraser got wed.

Stylish, Gothic wedding in Edinburgh

Inside, the Biscuit Factory is a real blank canvas, with bare brick walls, big old windows, steel beams and concrete floors. It’s super industrial but super beautiful and the light is stunning. Along with a group of their pals, Rosie and Fraser turned that vast space into a Gothic autumnal feast for the eyes. It looked amazing. Rosie’s good friend is a florist and she really went to town with it all. Oh, and if you need any more convincing that the Biscuit Factory is the best place to tie the knot, it’s dog friendly too. Winning.

The whole day was a whirlwind of craziness. From shots during the wedding ceremony through to a champagne tower and a taco van. Everything felt completely and utterly ‘Rosie and Fraser’. The weather was pretty lovely, especially for October, and we even managed to get outside for a confetti shot.

While everyone was hanging out and having a good old natter, Rosie, Fraser and I ventured out to explore around the Biscuit Factory. The building itself made for a great backdrop – I love the white stone walls covered in street art. We had a wander round and didn’t have to go far to find great spots for photos. The whole area is a bit industrial, a bit grungy and very urban. Not your typical Edinburgh city centre feel, which worked for Rosie and Fraser wanting something a bit different from the norm. We pottered around the nooks and crannies, finding wee pockets of light and laughed the whole time. Give me a couple who are full of joy and laughter and I’m a very happy photographer.
