Mhairi & Stephen’s Glorious Belleisle Conservatory Glasshouse Wedding
“Thank you so so much, you were amazing. The day was just so much fun from start to finish and you helped make our day so special. These are great! Thank you so much for your hard work it was great having you there!”
– Mhairi & Stephen
Want to see a super cool wedding at a hidden gem? Of course you do! Read on my friends, this is a cracker!
I first met up with Mhairi and Stephen back in 2020 to talk about their April 2021 wedding. We met up on 8 March 2020. Now we all know what happened just two weeks later. Poor Mhairi and Stephen had to push their wedding back to October 2021 and ended up changing their venue too. They’d originally planned to get married in Fife on the East Coast but were worried that if Covid was still hanging around they’d end up not being able to travel. They decided to look at venues closer to home and came across the Belleisle Glass House. Oh my days, it is a stunning venue! Just so lush. With their ceremony at the Glass House and their reception at the Robert Burns Museum in Ayr, this was shaping up to be one cool wedding.

Mhairi and Stephen are just the best. They’ve been together for over a decade, since they met in school (I am a sucker for a high school romance!) and are finally married, yay! Mhairi got ready in an amazing AirBnB, she’d won a whole load of ace bridal stuff from robes to dried flowers and a hamper full of snacks for the morning. On top of that Stephen gave her a box full of bridal goodies and included a letter. It was super emotional when she read it. Apparently, he’s an old romantic and writes her letters a lot, I love this! Note to my husband…write me some letters, please!
Can we take a moment and just talk about Mhairi’s dress. Oh my days! She looked stunning. And she got veil capes added to her already incredible dress. Everyone needs a veil cape, I’ve decided. Stephen wasn’t letting the side down either. He and his guys were looking sharp and Stephen was rocking his double-breasted suit.

The Glass House is a real hidden gem. It was originally built way back in 1897 and then fell into disrepair. A community group restored it in 2010 and they did the best job. It’s back to its former glory and reopened its doors in 2016. It’s such a unique venue and the perfect spot for Mhairi and Stephen’s Humanist ceremony. Make sure you check out their ‘tying the knot’ photo. They had been waiting a long old time for that moment and their faces said it all!
After the most colourful confetti and a load of fun photos, it was time to head over to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum to party! Mhairi’s brother is in a ceilidh band so I just knew it was going to be a good one. He jumped on stage for a few tunes but spent most of the night enjoying the wedding and left the band to do most of the work. Good man!
The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum is another super unique venue. It’s an industrial, warehouse-style space and looked so, so good all decked out for a wedding. After some witty speeches, it was time to hit the dance floor. The music was ace, the floor was packed and everyone was having the best time. Mhairi and Stephen sure know how to throw a fab party!
