Liz & Rob’s Couples Photoshoot Scotland Adventure
“We had the best time with you and we love all of the photos! Those locations were so great and we wouldn’t have chosen to do them anywhere else, even with the heels and the cold. Thanks again for everything!”
– Liz & Rob
Castles? Check! Rugged coastline? Check! Palmtrees? Che…wait, what? Are we still in Scotland?!
Yes, yes we are my friends. Not only did we find those exotic palmtrees in Scotland but we also found them on the same day we explored ruined castles and gazed over a windy coastline. Scotland really does have it all.
A Scottish Adventure Shoot
Liz and Rob had come over from their native California for a holiday in Scotland. They had just got engaged so, as a celebration, decided to book in for an adventure shoot with me.
What’s an adventure shoot I hear you cry? Well, it’s a photoshoot where we…go on an adventure. Yes, it’s as simple as that. You book in for either 1 hour or 2-3 hours, tell me a bit of what you like and I’ll plan us an epic shoot. It was perfect for Liz and Rob as it meant they got to see places in Scotland that they’d never heard of. These shoots are perfect if you’re over here on holiday, I’ll basically be your tour guide for a few hours and plan some epic locations!
Liz and Rob told me some of their favourite places in Scotland and, based on that, I picked out a few spots that I knew they would love. It was basically a wee tour of some castles and coastlines. Scotland has plenty of both of those things so we were in luck!
Epic Photoshoot at Dunure Castle
We met up at Dunure Castle in South Ayrshire on the West Coast. The castle has been a ruin for at least three hundred years and stands right on the edge of some incredible Scottish coastline. The view across the sea was pretty darn cool.
So, I’m waiting for Liz and Rob to arrive. It’s a bit of a windy day and I’m a wee bit chilly but I think to myself that Liz and Rob will have wrapped up warm. They’re from California so if I’m feeling a little cold then they’re going to be freezing!
Their car pulls up and Liz steps out, in the most amazing strappy dress and high heels! I kid you not! She was rocking it and was determined to get the shots. This is what adventure shoots are all about after all!
We wandered around the castle together and got some epic photos, especially in front of the ruins overlooking the coast. A few classic ‘blowing in the wind’ pictures with Liz’s hair and dress looking ace and then we jumped back in the car to warm up and zoom over to our next location.
Culzean Castle, in total contrast to Dunure, is an opulent stately home surrounded by lush gardens and those aforementioned palm trees. It was a bit of a different vibe and much less chilly for Liz and Rob! We stuck to the greenhouses and walled gardens before heading over to the front of the castle for some final portraits. What an adventure! Liz was an absolute trooper and they both loved seeing a bit of hidden Scotland. The two castles were places they’d never have thought of visiting so were made up that they got to see them.
