Jenni & Calum’s Fun Filled Duntarvie Castle Wedding
“I have no words!! These photos are amazing! We had such an amazing day and the photos show just how much fun we all had! They’re honestly amazing, we can’t thank you enough for being part of our day and capturing it so damn perfectly! Our main goal was to throw one hell of a party and I think the photos show we definitely did that!”
– Jenni & Calum
I think I’ve found a new favourite wedding venue, Duntarvie Castle is Ah. Mazing and has jumped right onto my ‘I want to shoot here again and again and again!’ list.
Jenni and Calum got married back in lockdown – remember that weird time? It feels like ages ago and simultaneously like it all happened last week doesn’t it! They eloped with a few family members and are now ready to have a big old celebration with all their loved ones. The photographer who captured their beautiful elopement wasn’t available for their party so they recommended me (thanks pal!) and Jenni, Calum, and I got on like a house on fire as soon as we met. We were such a good match!
Duntarvie Castle Wedding Party
The fabulous Duntarvie Castle is a new kid on the wedding venue block. Just a quick nip down the motorway from Edinburgh, Duntarvie is an old, dilapidated Scots Renaissance mansion that the owners are currently restoring. Weddings take place in the Summerhouse Marquee, a permanent metal and wood structure that couples can go all out decorating. Jenni didn’t need telling twice! They both DIY’d most of their wedding decor. Jenni runs Boho Blonde Macrame (go check them out) and she made all the favours, table decorations, and pretty much everything you see in the photos! Even the neon sign, amazing! On top of that, she somehow found the time to alter her dress and add some fringe. She looked incredible, I love a bit of fringe!
It was such a chilled-out day. Turn up, drinks, family photos, speeches, pizza truck. So good!
Trisha, the wedding coordinator was fab, I can’t rave about her enough. She was on hand for everyone, whatever they needed. She even took the time to give me and Stevie (my second shooter) a tour of the old castle during the food break. It was so nice to see the progress they’ve made and I love the enthusiasm everyone has for the project. And it’s a heck of a project! The plan is to restore the castle to its former glory and use it as accommodation. I can’t wait to see it! In the meantime, weddings take place in the marquee and the money from those goes back into the restoration.
Scottish Wedding Photography
I’ve got another wedding at Duntarvie next year and I’m already looking forward to seeing how much more they’ve done by then. I know this place is going to be so popular as more couples hear about it. It’s a total wedding party pad and even the chairs are cool. The grounds are perfect for family shots and portraits too. Not too big that we spend hours wandering and full of cool structures for some creativity.
But back to Jenni and Calum, what a party! Everyone was so up for a celebration and itching to get on that dance floor, it was packed as soon as Calum and Jenni had finished their first dance!
If you’re thinking of getting married at Duntarvie Castle then just book it. Book it now. You won’t regret it. And then book me to take your pictures. I’ll love you forever.
