Jamie & Gillian’s Stunning Falside Mill Wedding
“The pictures are absolutely amazing defs brought a tear to our eyes. You are such a good photographer, honestly thanks so much for being there on our big day and capturing it all “
– Gillian & Jamie
Will you take a look at this Falside Mill wedding. An amazing venue, super stylish and ever so lovely couple and a photo opportunity at every turn. What a day!
Gillian and Jamie are so sweet and just bloomin’ gorgeous. I cannae take a bad photo of either of them! I couldn’t go wrong with the venue either. Falside Mill in St Andrews is super cool, it was my first time there and I just fell in love with the place.
Falside Mill Wedding Photography
Tucked away in the East Neuk of Fife, Falside Mill is surrounded by rolling fields and incredible views of the Scottish countryside. St Andrews and Crail are just a short drive away so even though you feel as though you’re in the middle of nowhere it’s actually really accessible for wedding guests. Always handy to know!
As a big old geek I love finding out the history of venues, and Falside Mill certainly has a lot of that! There has been a settlement on the site since the 14th century while the steading itself dates back to the 18th century. In 2016 the Lamgair family took over the steading immediately saw the potential of the place as a wedding and events venue. The family spent years rebuilding and converting, they did an amazing job and I love the care and attention that they’ve put into it.
Gillian was getting ready in her parents house nearby and honestly, it was like something out of Grand Designs! Check out the views, you could see for miles over the coast and those windows let in so much natural light. I was in my element!
Scottish Wedding Venues
Over at Falside Mill, guests were taking their seats in the Reception Room, one of two converted barns the Lamgair’s had rebuilt using original stone and it looks fab. Huge windows let in lots of light so the space manages to be both cosy and spacious at the same time. No mean feat!
It was a lovely wee ceremony and before Gillian and Jamie knew it they were married and heading outside for confetti. There were blue skies overhead but it was blowing an absolute gale. The confetti went everywhere and I think Gillian nearly took off! Her veil was incredible but definitely not something you’d want to be wearing in that wind! Luckily Falside Mill has lots of perfect wee spots inside for photos so while their guests were out having drinks and canapes in the courtyard we took some super stylish group photos back inside.
Weddings at Falside Mill
Gillian and Jamie have got such an eye for detail, the main barn looked so, so good. I did wonder why most of the tables had a bottle of Reef at each place but all was to be revealed. Jamie’s best man ended his speech by encouraging everyone to ‘strawpedo’ their bottle. That took me back to some rather dubious student union nights! Ha!
Later that day we were treated to an awesome sunset. By that point the wind had died down so I wasted no time in hustling Gillian and Jamie outside into the fields for some pictures. They are super affectionate together, again, making my job easy. Thanks you two!
I’m putting it out to the wedding gods, let me go back to Falside Mill! Can you help make a wedding photographer’s dreams come true?! If so, slide into my DMs!
