Tash & Ross' Spectacular Kirknewton Stables Wedding, Edinburgh
“THE PHOTOS ARE INSANE” – Tash & Ross
Now, if Carlsberg did weddings…
The lovely Tash and Ross eloped with a few friends (and me!) back in October 2020. They’d had to scale back their original wedding plans and, even in the October it was touch and go as to whether it would be allowed to go ahead. Luckily there was no ban on weddings and they got married at a registry office in Edinburgh with lil ol’ me on camera duties.
Two years (and one baby) later it was time to paaaaaarty!
Wedding Photography at Kirknewton House Stables
Kirknewton is an awesome venue, about half an hour from the centre of Edinburgh. Super easy to get to which is always a bonus for wedding guests.
The rustic, renovated stables, on the Kirknewton Estate, are a blank canvas, meaning couples can go wild with whatever decor they like. Ross and Tash are all about colour and had gone all out with bright florals and bunting. It looked fab.
That morning I joined Tash, Ross, and baby Isla over at an AirBnB where they were getting ready. Tash was looking Ah. Mazing. I’m a sucker for lacy sleeves on a wedding dress so, as you can imagine, I was swooning over her outfit. The boys scrubbed up nicely too! Ross wore the tweed suit, complete with bow tie, he’d donned for their October wedding while the rest of the men were in linen jackets.
Scottish Wedding Photography
Now, Tash hails from England, Ross is Irish and they live in London. So why get married in Scotland I hear you cry. They’d actually met in Edinburgh whilst at uni and so their friends and family travelled from all over the UK (and the world) for their wedding. They had a beautiful commitment ceremony, complete with personal vows. Lots of their friends got up to play musical instruments, read poetry, and generally rave about how fab Tash and Ross are. It was so nice to see.
The weather was most excellent so straight after the ceremony everyone headed outside for confetti – which wee Isla loved – before enjoying the gorgeous gardens at Kirknewton. The grounds are just stunning and it was great to be able to hang around outside and for everyone to have a good old catch-up after a few years of enforced separation. I shot this wedding in May 2022 so everyone was super excited to be out and about, weddings were just kicking off properly again and it felt so good to be back.
As has been the theme for 2022 weddings the dancefloor was absolute carnage! It was a ceilidh and, one of my guilty pleasures is non-Scottish people dancing a ceilidh. I LOVE it! Other Scottish wedding suppliers will know exactly what I mean!
Kirknewton Stables Wedding
It was SO hard to narrow down the images for this blog post. If I could’ve shared the entire gallery I would have done. Tash and Ross had the best day, it was chilled out, it was fun, and it was full of love. Everything a wedding should be. Kirknewton Stables was the icing on the cake. What a venue. I can’t wait to head back there.
