Emma & Scott's Autumnal Colourful Netherbyres House Wedding
“Sarah was incredible from the get go, so friendly and relaxed. She showed us how to relax in front of the camera during a couples shoot and was very flexible in arranging catch ups over zoom or in person.
On the day Sarah was fantastic, so organised and great with all our guests. When we received our images we fell in love with how colourful and vibrant they are. Sarah has gone the extra mile with everything and has given us beautiful images and extras to cherish forever!
I can not recommend Joy Story Photographer enough!”

Netherbyres House wedding – Emma & Scott
Want to check out one of my favourite weddings from last year? Yeah, of course you do!
Now, I feel like I have a lot of favourite weddings, and who can blame me, my couples are ace! But Emma and Scott’s day at Netherbyres House was absolutely EPIC.
Autumnal wedding at Netherbyres House
I feel like my photography is the perfect match with Netherbyres House. Netherbyres is super colourful, cute and quirky. Right up my Joy Story street!
Sarah and Mike (who are fab) took over Netherbyres House in 2019 and utterly transformed it into the amazing wedding venue it is today. The decor is super cool and I really love what they’ve done with the place. They are all about stress free, fun celebrations in a unique venue. Think bold colours, bright furniture, eclectic art and an incredible staircase all wrapped up in a Victorian mansion that looks like something from a film.
As an added bonus, couples get to take over the whole place for their day. Everyone can stay over upstairs and the wedding happens downstairs. It’s like one mega house party. Ace!
Netherbyres House is a real gem, tucked away in the borders near the Berwickshire coast. Sarah and Mike have thought of everything, little details like the “it’s fate’ neon sign in the Grand Hall and the golden mirror ball really make a venue stand out. Plus, there are SO many amazing spots for photos, from the woodlands to the Victorian Walled Garden and, of course, all the amazing backdrops inside the house too. I was in my element.
Wedding photography at Netherbyres House
Wedding ceremonies take place down in the Grand Hall. Fellow wedding suppliers will understand my delight when I say…the chairs were lovely! Couples, don’t settle for ugly wedding chairs!
Emma and her wedding party got to walk down that amazing staircase before joining Scott. What an entrance! The ceremony was lovely, very heartfelt but with a lot of laughter. Especially after they lit their candles. Scott went to blow out the match and blew out his candle instead. Hilarious!
During the ceremony their little niece, their flowergirl, was having a wee dance to herself in the giant mirror. Super cute. Their mums did the Quaich ceremony which was a really lovely moment.
Scott and Emma, you two had the best confetti ever! Masses of colourful paper discs and everyone went wild with it. Also, shout out to all their guests. What a gang! Everyone was so up for a celebration and they really made the day amazing for Scott and Emma. Extra special mention to their pal who came wore his Austin Powers teeth and glasses during the group shots. We howled with laughter! For some reason he’d got it into his head that the wedding was Halloween themed. What a guy!
I can’t rave about Emma and Scott’s day enough. But nothing I say will do Netherbyres House and their wedding justice, you’ll need to take a look at the photos.
