Fair warning, I overuse “lovely” in this blog post. When I got home from Soph and Stoo’s wedding I couldn’t stop whittering on how about lovely they are and what a lovely day it was at their super cool, lovely wedding venue. Even I got fed up of myself saying it! But, lovely really is the only way to describe them. They are such a lovely, LOVELY couple! Super nice and so chilled and laidback and their wedding was the most perfect reflection of them both.
Wedding at Pollokshields Burgh Hall, Glasgow
This was one of the most relaxed wedding mornings ever. Stoo and Soph got ready separately, before heading over to Pollokshields Burgh Hall for their first look. Now, this wedding venue is ace. It’s quirky, it’s unique, it looks like something out of a Tim Burton film…honestly, I could’ve spent hours just wandering around having a nosy at all the little nooks and crannies. Luckily for Soph and Stoo I resisted that urge and instead got Soph to stand at the top of the spiral stone stairs into their apartment ready for Stoo to arrive.
Did I mention how cute these two are? They are super loved up and just fit each other to a t! Also, they made a portmanteau of their surnames, combining their two names to make Garland. So cute! I love it!
After their first look, which was, you guessed it…lovely…we all just hung out for a bit ahead of the ceremony. Then Soph and Stoo made their grand entrance down the aisle together.
Now, I’m not just saying this because Soph and Stoo obviously took my advice on board but LOOK AT THAT CONFETTI! Look at the colour and the sheer, joyful, messy abundance of it! If you want the best confetti moment then you need to be more Soph and Stoo. Buy loads of it. Then buy some more. And a bit more.
Cool, quirky wedding in Glasgow
Stoo is mega into Pokemon so there were loads of quirky, geeky elements throughout the day. The dried flower buttonholes had little Pokemon badges on them, his cufflinks were Pokemon, and the decor on the tables was all Pokemon. He is a proper fan.
Shout out to Stoo’s Best Man (his brother) for the best takedown I have ever seen at a wedding. Stoo got absolutely roasted, like, roasted alive. It was hilarious! Just the funniest thing ever. There were so many shocked faces and poor Stoo had his head in his hands for pretty much the entire speech. It was all in good humour though, Soph’s face was aching with laughter and I’m pretty sure Stoo couldn’t breathe for laughing at one point.
Speeches done it was time to eat. You won’t normally find me chatting about wedding food on this blog. At this point in the day, I’ve found myself a wee corner to hide away in. Recharge my batteries – both literally and figuratively – and generally have a bit of time to myself. Soph and Stoo were having none of this. They insisted on sitting me at a table with their guests and feeding me the most divine wedding meal I have ever tasted. Gumbo, mac n cheese, greens, fried chicken. The delights just kept on coming! Massive shoutout to the caterers Shotgun Weddings & Events – it was phenomenal.

The weather was so nice all day, sunny and warm, so I knew we were due a lovely golden hour. Stoo, Soph, and I nipped out for a wander around the park and found a patch of sunflowers. The super nice light, Soph’s amazing red curls, and the yellow of the sunflowers all looked incredible. I was one very happy photographer!
Then it was back to the party. In true Stoo and Soph tradition, they had decided to do things differently and kicked things off with a ceilidh for an hour before their first dance. Then the dancefloor went wild, it was a mega party! Ace dancing, fab folks, all good! Loved ittttt!
