– Dan & Giulia
You might remember these two lovebirds from their epic Glencoe pre-wedding adventure shoot. Well, they’re now married and I got to hang out with them and photograph their amazing Secret Herb Garden wedding day. Yay! The Secret Herb Garden in Edinburgh is an awesome wee place, it’s a garden centre / gin distillery / bistro cafe / wedding venue. How cool?! There are greenhouses everywhere, flowers in bloom, lots of greenery, llamas, ducks, geese…what more could you ask for from your wedding venue!Scottish Italian Secret Herb Garden Wedding
I started the day with Giulia at their flat in Leith, Edinburgh. Giulia is fab, a bubbly Italian who is just infectiously joyful. I love spending time with her. Dan was raised in Belgium before moving back to Scotland with his family. They have friends and family from all over the world so this wedding day at the Secret Herb Garden was a huge international celebration. Sadly, Giulia’s family had made it as far as London from Italy. As they were due to travel up to Scotland they found out they had covid and so were stuck in London. She was gutted but is a wee trooper and was determined that she wouldn’t let it spoil the day. Instead her and Dan decided to have another celebration in Italy so her parents could be there. You can’t have enough wedding parties!Weddings at The Secret Herb Garden, Edinburgh
It was such a stunning day. Super hot and so bright. Luckily (for me!) their wedding ceremony wasn’t until 5pm so the light was a lot less harsh. Phew! They were already officially married so a close friend performed their ceremony / wedding blessing. It was really lovely, under the shade of a tree with their guests gathered around. Dan looked super dapper in his kilt and Giulia looked incredible in her custom wedding dress. She wore pink! Yes! Love a bride who wears pink. I just love Giulia. She had an amazing bouquet, pink and purple striped hair and her ace tatts were on show. She was so laid back all day, just so chill, they both were. It was a really chilled, relaxed day. Full of young uns, the guests were basically all their mates and then Dan’s parents who partied just as hard as anyone there. Utter legends!Secret Herb Garden Wedding Reception
Having such a late ceremony meant that as soon as Dan and Giulia walked back up the aisle it was party time! Loads of people there hadn’t seen each other in forever so were stoked to have a catch up. The styling was insane, all the decor looked incredible. The table centre pieces were made up of plants, fruits and candles. They’d gone to so much effort and it really paid off. And the party itself, wow! What a night. Got to give a shout out to the band, Reel Brass. A brass ceilidh band. Amazing. Everyone got so into the ceilidh as well, and you know how much I love it when non Scots embrace a ceilidh. I was with them until the bitter end and I think everyone was dancing right up until the music stopped. They must’ve been exhausted, I know I was! Dan and Giulia’s wedding lived up to all my expectations. I knew it was going to be great as these two are so fab. Such a laid back day, super chilled out couple and a brilliant venue. It was ace!Sarah x
