Rachelle and Brett’s Sunny The Den at Culross Wedding Fife
“Omg Sarah! Thank you thank you! Not even halfway through and I’m already crying (surprise surprise haha!). Everyone has been messaging about you and saying how INCREDIBLE the photos are. Thank you so much for capturing our day!!! We honestly don’t think we could have picked anyone better to capture our day so beautifully – ugly crying and all!”
– Rachelle & Brett
“Natural, not too staged, colourful and capturing all the little things”
When Rachelle and Brett told me how they imagined their wedding photography I high fived myself. This was right up my street! And when I heard that they were getting married at one of the newest (and coolest) wedding venues around, well, I was over the moon.
The Den at Culross opened in late 2019 so Rachelle and Brett’s wedding turned out to be one of the first they held there after everything reopened post lockdowns. Blairhill Mains Farm is a family run business out in West Fife. In early 2019 they began converting some of the existing farm buildings, their dream was to turn them into blank canvas venues for weddings and events. With their first wedding booked in for October 2019 it was going to be a tight turnaround but they managed it and the spaces look absolutely incredible. Hats off to the team, what a transformation!
Wedding photography at the Den at Culross
There are three spaces at the Den – the Barn, the Byre and the Courtyard. It’s so flexible and means that couples can hold smaller, more intimate weddings right up to big old celebrations packed with family and friends. I love the Byre with its stone walls, balcony and open roof trusses. It’s a really cool mix of contemporary and rustic and was the perfect size for Rachelle and Brett to hold their wedding meal. The Barn is the place for bigger weddings. It’s full of original features – including a few cattle troughs! – and I bet it looks absolutely brilliant when it’s all dressed up for a wedding and is full of people. What a great place to party.
It was a really sunny day so Rachelle and Brett held their ceremony out in the Courtyard. As their guests took their seats Rachelle and her girl gang came out from hiding in the Barn and made the short walk over to the ceremony space.
I’m going to pause here so we can just take a moment to gaze in awe at Rachelle, her dress and those flowers! The embroidery and detail are beyond stunning and I adore her bouquet. Brett scrubbed up nicely too, his tweed suit looked fab – although he did confess he was rather warm in it!
Informal formals
These two have known each other forever. They got together when they were twelve, so are proper childhood sweethearts. Over the years their friends and family have got to know each other so well that everyone has merged into one gigantic friends and family group. There are no outsiders here! Which made for some wonderfully silly family group photos. We had such a laugh doing them, Rachelle and Brett are just the cutest, daftest couple and I think that really comes across in their photos. I mean, just take a look at them practicing their first dance, hilarious!
Feast your eyes on the pictures, Rachelle and Brett went all out on the styling, decor, and details and the whole place looked amazing. The Den at Culross is such a great venue and if you’re planning your wedding there then I would love to talk to you about your wedding photography. Gimme a call! (Except don’t call, because I’m a millennial and I’d never answer – email me!)
