“I wish we could give these amazing gals more than 5 stars! From the very moment that we met Joy Story we knew they were the one, we had an instant bond and knew that they understood what we wanted from our wedding photographs. As a couple who were very nervous about posing for photos, we didn’t have to worry and were made to feel at ease throughout the whole process. Our photographs are exceptional, engagement shoot included and every detail of our wedding day was captured. Thanks again ladies – YOU ROCK! 10/10 would recommend!!”
– Daniel & Bethany

As soon as I met Bethany and Daniel I just knew they were going to be the Perfect Joy Story couple full of joy full of love and just so f****** excited to get married.

Even though they both lived down in Kent, Bethany is a Glasgow girl at heart and wanted to get married right in the centre of the city that she was born and raised in. They wanted to show their guests a good time and they knew that a Glasgow city centre wedding is exactly the place to do that.

When I’m preparing for a wedding, I send some ‘homework’ to the couple so I know about any specific shots and this one had a most unusual request. Bethany said she would like a photo of Dan riding a dragon to save her from a fire pit with a sword in his hand. “Just kidding” she writes after. I love these two!

The details they gave in their wedding homework form also revealed that Bethany spent an obscene amount of money on some velvet ring boxes. Let me tell you something though, they were totally worth it! (See below.)

They added a little extra wow factor to the day that was already filled with so much wow to begin with.

Preparations

First, let’s talk about those shoes. Yes, Bethany wore amazing Vivienne Westwood shoes that would make any bride green with envy. Her beautiful lace dress from Oleg Cassini looked stunning with her hair half up and half down. She chose Navy for the bridesmaids which looked so elegant with the boy’s blue suits.

Sometimes on the morning of a wedding day, the bride will open a gift from her groom. On this day, Dan arranged for a lovely box with lots of treats and cards inside to be delivered, yes cards plural. In fact, there were 3! Not one, not two but three wedding cards. I mean Bethany is a branch manager of a stationery shop, so we know she’s into it, but three Dan? I just love how extra you both are.

The Ceremony

The ceremony and reception were held in 29 Club at Royal Exchange Square and the decor will make you gag. My girl Briar Rose Design knocked it out of the park once again with her flowers and floral designs. Between that, the exposed brick walls and the candles lit, it meant the atmosphere was incredibly intimate and romantic.

Bethany and Dan both giggled and grinned the whole way through the wedding ceremony. It was wonderful to see their joy really radiate outwards and even better to photograph it.

As they walked down the aisle as Mr and Mrs, rainbow-coloured confetti poured down onto them and there was no better way to see them out of the ceremony than with fun and pure joy!

And really, joy was the theme of the day. Everyone had a ball. The weather didn’t exactly cooperate, it may have been gloomy outside but it never once dampened the spirits of this fun-filled wedding day.

The rain meant that we had to get creative in dodging showers for the portraits but that is a lot of fun when you’re in the city centre with all its nooks and crannies to use. Especially when you’ve got a couple who were completely up for braving the rain to get some beautiful shots.

When you’re as in love and as happy as these two, it doesn’t matter about the weather or the location, they make magic happen.

The Reception

After the portraits, it was time to head back inside to the guests and the party for cake cutting (check out the gorgeous cake!) and dancing. Woah, was there dancing! We are all still obsessed with Dan’s dance moves. It’s awesome when a half English wedding has a ceilidh. Picture the carnage and we love it.

We also loved hanging out with our videographer friends ElevenSix, who produced the amazing video you’ll see below.

We cannot express how happy we are to have witnessed this amazing wedding between these two amazing people. Bethany and Dan, we know we have friends for life here. It’s times like these that we feel so grateful to have this incredible job, to get to photograph people so in love they legit vibrate with happiness all through the day.

Let the joy-fest begin…
