Engagement photographer Glasgow
Tempted by the idea of a pre-wedding shoot but you’re not into green fields, beaches and strolls up hills? Worry not! I’ve got your back. You don’t need to do ‘pretty’ if that’s not your thing. Fancy grunge? Industrial? Urban? Scroll down and check out Imogen and Paul’s epic Glasgow engagement shoot. It ticks all those boxes and more.
Urban pre-wedding shoot Glasgow
When Imogen and Paul got in touch about their engagement shoot they wanted something a little out of the ordinary that really reflected the two of them, and the city they love. Their actual wedding day (which happened back in September and was completely awesome) was in Glasgow too. They took over the fab Botanic Gardens for it, keep your eye out for that blog coming soon as it was amazing. Despite them now living in the Scottish Highlands they wanted to keep it to Glasgow for their pre-wedding shoot. More than fine with me. I flipping love exploring the city, finding new places and taking couples to my favourite haunts.
Portrait shoot at Govan Dry Docks
As well as wanting the urban, industrial vibes for their shoot, Imogen and Paul challenged me to find somewhere new and exciting to take them. Challenge accepted. I knew just the place. Govan Dry Docks. Now, this place is super cool. It used to be the main public docks for Glasgow and the West Coast of Scotland. So, as you can imagine, it’s a vast space. The three docks have been pretty much abandoned for years, it closed back in the 1980s and sadly everything has fallen into disrepair. Although, Hollywood fans, it was used to film parts of the mega Sam Mendes blockbuster, 1917. So that’s exciting.
Over the years there have been various proposals raised to do something with the docks but everything was rejected or fell through until February last year when they secured funding for redevelopment. The project looks epic, including the creation of green spaces and the huge restoration of the TS Queen Mary. I can’t wait to see what they do with the docks but am secretly slightly gutted my new, industrial photoshoot backdrop is going to disappear!
Glasgow city centre engagement shoot
All that renovation is for the future though, and Paul, Imogen and I had the run of the place with all its abandoned grittiness. These two are such an awesome couple, up for any and all ideas I had! We were raving about the bright colours of the graffiti and the wild greenery that had sprung up all over the place. I was tempted to keep them there all day so I could keep taking pictures! But, alas, we all had things to be getting on with. We definitely made the most of the time we had together though. Wandering everywhere from the Pumphouse (the last remaining building on the site. Also lol, pumphouse – we sniggered.) to the old jetties and brick archways. Basically we had a right good time. Those views across to Glasgow are pretty awesome too. We could see right across to the Science Centre, the Hydro and the Armadillo. So epic.
Joy Story Adventure Shoots
So, there you have it. Proof that you can book one of my Adventure Shoots and we’ll head out on a little trip to wherever you like. You want pretty? I know plenty of beautiful green space You want grunge? Then follow me. We may not have the docks for much longer but I do love a challenge! I’ll find somewhere just as good, trust me, and it will look cool as!
