Not Too Far From Glasgow & Edinburgh, Killearn Village Hall was the Perfect Colourful DIY Wedding Venue for Catherine & Annie
“Sarah and Kristeen are the best wedding photographers ever, and I am so happy that they captured our special day and gave us such beautiful and brilliant photos to look back on for many years to come.
Sarah and Kristeen were a delight to work with and were so supportive in the run up to the wedding, helping us make decisions about what shots we wanted on the day and where. They were both brilliant on the morning while we were getting ready, and amazing during the day -they made us (and our guests) laugh and feel comfortable and captured some incredible funny, sweet and special moments.
Our photos arrived a few weeks after the wedding in a beautiful box and we look at them all the time! We both really don’t like having our photos taken but Sarah and Kristeen made us feel so at ease and the photos just look so happy. I honestly can’t recommend them enough, they are a treat both as people and as photographers! xx”
– Catherine & Annie
Where do we start with Catherine & Annie, I just love these two. From the moment we met, and they brought me brownies, I knew it was going to be a match made in heaven! 😉
Their wedding plans sounded so wonderful and exactly us, lots of light, love, joy and colour – we couldn’t wait! In the meantime, we did a lovely at home couples shoot with them and had a wee jaunt to the Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh for some lovely natural couples images. We love pre-wedding, aka engagement, shoots! CLICK HERE to have a peek at them!
Preparations
And so the wedding day arrived, it was gloriously sunny as we arrived at their prep accommodation. Catherine & Annie chose to get ready together (for the most part) which we loved, I think it helps ease the nerves too as it just seems so normal and calming. After hair and makeup had been perfected by Hair By Shirley and Laura Bruce Beauty they then separated to get dressed. Neither of them knew it but they had both chosen short dresses, super cute, Annie’s was beautifully beaded and from SJP Bridal and Catherine’s lovely lace number was from David’s Bridal.
Then we got to do a first look with them, which was SO much fun!! This is where you do an outfit reveal to your partner prior to the ceremony and are becoming more popular. It gives you a chance to get all your emotions out in private (well, except that we’re there haha!) and you get to have a lovely moment with your other half without having to wait for the ceremony to be over. And trust me, once you get to the ceremony you hardly have a minute to yourself for the rest of the day. So this can be a really calming yet exciting experience.
Brides.com has a more in-depth article HERE. But just look at Catherine and Annie’s faces below and you’ll see the benefits to this approach, it’s just amazing to watch unfold. As photographers, we’re big fans of the first look!!
Ceremony
Their ceremony was so personal and intimate, they had one of their good friends as celebrant and it was incredibly heartwarming and tear-jerking. Catherine even had a crying fit of laughter at one point. The bonus of having one of your good friends officiate!! As Lucy was not (yet) a registered celebrant, Victoria Bisland of Fuze Ceremonies was on hand to make it all official!
Being a Glasgow wedding photographer is amazing when you have venues like Killearn Village Hall so close, it’s a photographer’s dream. Lovely and light with lots of space to move around (silently – like a ninja) and transforms easily from ceremony to gorgeous reception space. Especially with the help of the coordinator Sheena who is just awesome! Just look at the image above. Colours, lights, love, personality, village hall chic – everything you could need. And with the adjoined Three Sisters Bake on the catering, it was always destined to be a huge success as a wedding venue. One of our favourites to date.
Portraits
Blessed with the weather we took a wander round Killearn village for their portraits. The way these two look at each other just melts my heart, it’s pure love and gratitude. Making our job look easy, all we need is two people in love and the images just come alive. We also managed to grab an amazing sunset later on in the day, just as the rain subsided (unfortunately the midgies had not!). it’s amazing what 5 minutes in the sunset can grant you, the images right at the bottom are some of our favourites from the day.
I feel like I could write about Catherine & Annie and their lovely family, friends and wedding all day, but I’ll leave the rest to the images…
They also left us the most gorgeous, heart-warming review above! Aww, thanks gals!! We love youuuuuu!
Enjoy the photos!
