St Andrew’s Cathedral & Trades Hall Wedding

Located in the City Centre, a Trades Hall Wedding was the Perfect Reception Venue for Jo & Tam

“Sarah & Kristeen were absolutely brilliant. I couldn’t have found better photographers to capture our wedding. From the first time we met them through to getting the pictures through afterwards they were so friendly and professional. I’d highly recommend them.”
– Jo & Tam

Ever since we had our gorgeous same-sex styled shoot at Trades Hall, we had hoped to shoot a wedding there. As luck would have it, Jo found us via an Instagram post from the shoot, and so it came full circle!

Both living in London but with Tam hailing from Glasgow (And having spent time working in New York), Tam and Jo combined all three cities into their Scottish wedding day. From the London underground themed tables to Tam’s London and NYC linings of his kilt jacket and waistcoat.

Arriving at the B&B where all of Jo’s family were getting ready you could immediately felt the warmth of her extended family. New faces kept popping out of rooms and there were people everywhere, but, throughout it all Jo was a beacon of calm.

Although on the 19th May 2018 much of the country was glued to the royal wedding coverage, Jo and Tam were celebrating their love and commitment to one another. Despite a slight Uber fail (it left before we got to it) Jo, accompanied but her joyful Dad and beautiful sister Meghan made it to the cathedral on time. And what a cathedral it is. The gorgeous St Andrews Cathedral by the riverside was glorious in the May sun.

In front of their families, in a beautiful ceremony, Jo and Tam tied the knot. A special shout out must go to the groomsmen who cleared up the confetti outside the church. It was so worth it though – who doesn’t love a confetti shot! As we headed up to the Trades Hall wedding reception to get the party started, the people of Glasgow cheered Jo and Tam and wished them well. This is why they say People Make Glasgow, it’s so true, we love that they always do this when we’re out walking with our couples!! Perks of being a Glasgow wedding photographer!

At the historic Trades Hall in Glasgow’s merchant city, the reception room was decorated by Jo and her family with elegant flowers that were also incorporated into the cake. The cake toppers were, at the same time, adorable and sentimental. Jo had used champagne corks that she has saved from special events in her and Tam’s story. One even being from the night that they were engaged, how cute!

After some kind words and toasts from the speakers and a delicious meal at the London Underground themed tables, it was time to get the parted started Scottish style with a Ceilidh. What does Joy Story love almost as much as confetti shot? A ceilidh! So. Much. Fun. Especially when half the wedding is English! 😉

A huge thanks to Jo and Tam for asking us to be a part of their lovely day. It was a joy to capture it for them.

Enjoy the photos!
