Styled Warehouse Shoot at The Engine Works Wedding Venue, Glasgow City
Video by https://www.chriskellyfilms.com/ (he rocks!)
Have you heard of the newest, coolest venue in Glasgow – The Engine Works? Think urban, stylish, raw and well just flipping gorge! It’s been lovingly turned into a venue by owner Michael who we couldn’t wait to collaborate with. The premises have such a sense of history in the area and we loved their attitude of “the only limit to its use, is your imagination”. Now there is a challenge, right?
We were part of a dream team with the amazing wedding planner Cat Duthie of Fin Flükra, and florist extraordinaire, Mel Paget of Briar Rose Design. As we visited the venue, we knew we had to do a styled shoot to showcase just how beautiful a wedding in it could be.
The Idea
The three of us agreed that we wanted the venue to be the main focus of any shoot. I mean, those red brick walls, green steel beams and the whole industrial feel were what excited us! So we chose to go with a pared back, simple green and white colour palette with pops of gold to add just a little bit of luxe.
Once the concept was in place, it was time to gather up our kick-ass group of vendors to help the vision come to life. Vendors assemble!
The Dream Team
It was important that the furniture and decor felt natural in the surroundings of The Engine Works, and the Wooden Bench Hire Company delivered exactly what we wanted. We added crockery from Bespoke Catering, linen and festoon lighting from Make Believe Events and gorgeous gold-trimmed glasses from The Green Cockatoo.
Ok, and let’s talk about the stationery, shall we? Laura Elizabeth Patrick provided some to-die-for invitations that complimented the colours and style perfectly, and Cecilia Stamp Jewellery tied all of the elements together beautifully with some geometric pieces.
Then, we’ve also got to mention the cake. It was created by Rosewood Cakes and provided a bit of a wow moment when we first laid eyes on it.
The venue was beginning to take shape and Mel from Briar Rose Design brought it out of the bag with her stunning floral tabletop decor and the hanging floral centrepiece at our ‘ceremony’. I mean this lady is just so talented!
Our Couple
Now, shoot time. Our models Ben and Yukie are a real-life couple, so that helped us with the loved up vibes. Yukie wore the most elegant dress from local bridal couture designer Flossy and Dossy’s New Wave collection aimed at the modern bride. Her hair and makeup were done by Maddison Scott Styling and Carla Haley Makeup Artist who totally got the look we were going for.
We couldn’t resist a nod to the traditional and the heritage that is deep within The Engine Works by having Ben in a kilt from A1 Kilt Hire.
Behind The Scenes Video
Our award-winning videographer, Chris Kelly, was the man behind the camera for the day. He put together the above awesome highlights/behind the scenes video for us! And helped with some essential putting together of the shoot as you can see from the BTS shots at the bottom of the post!
Honestly, this is one of our favourite shoots to date. It was just so much fun to collaborate with awesome people to create the look, and we cannot wait to shoot a real wedding at The Engine Works in the near future. Who is up for it? Remember, it’s only limits are your imagination so we cannot wait to see what people come up with!
Enjoy!

Behind The Scenes
So what goes into putting this whole thing together? Quite a lot, 16 different wedding suppliers plus 2 models to be exact! Here are some of our antics during setup which took about 3 hours on the day. How many wedding suppliers does it take to hang festoon lighting? Answer below 😉
Mini Couples Shoot
We even had time to squeeze in a couple of cute shots of Yukie & Ben playing the roles of themselves! Loved up cuties 😉
