Stephanie & Tony celebrated their Scottish-Dutch union with a home farm wedding with a birds of prey display and an amazing ceilidh knees up!
Living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and planning a wedding 6500 miles away in Aberdeenshire is no mean feat! But these two smashed their farm wedding at home. What better place to be wed? Making memories right on your own doorstep, I love it!
Preparations
The lads were getting ready at Forglen Lodge which is lovely and nearby, my second shooter for the day Simone got to hang out with them and catch their goings-on. I was at the farm with the girls where everyone was very chilled out – perks of getting ready at home! Lots of Steph’s family and friends were on hand to help with all the preparations too. One of their wedding guests even made the gorgeous wedding cake!
The Ceremony
Tony was so emotional when Steph was walking up the aisle towards him, I can remember it clearly. It was so beautiful, you could tell them being married, especially at home with their daughters watching on, meant the world to both of them. This is why I love humanist ceremonies too as they are so personal to YOU and your journey. And what a journey it’s been for them! From getting engaged in The Netherlands (where Steph is from) to living in Kuala Lumpur to getting married in Aberdeenshire – it really was a worldwide romance! They stepped out into a shower of confetti from their nearest and dearest and had an amazing outdoor reception!
The Reception
Tony had a request for the wedding entertainment. A falconry display! How cool?? George the Golden Eagle was a big hit and how BADASS do these two look holding him? Love it! At the speeches Tony had literally everyone crying, including me!! The love in the room was honestly palpable, it was a joy to witness. A lot of the guests had flown in from all over the world for this wedding and it was so lovely to see everyone come together! Especially in a ceilidh! It was carnage and you all know I loves me some ceilidh carnage. I bloody love being a wedding photographer in Scotland!
Feast your eyes on the joy…
