“Ahhhhh we love it!!!! Thank you for sending these through! We finally had the time go through them all together and love them 🙂 Thank you for documenting our special day/s!”
– Joann & Ting

Not only are Joann and Ting super lovely, but they’re also one of the most laid-back, chilled-out couples I’ve ever met. They first got in touch with me in mid-September and I had to reread their email a few times to check I’d got their wedding date correct. Yes, they were getting married just a month later!

Joann and Ting live in Manchester but are both from Scotland, in fact, although they met via a mutual friend it turned out that they’d been to neighbouring high schools and had grown up in the same area. Such a small world! They were holding their wedding back up in Scotland and had planned for two days. The first was their wedding ceremony and celebrations with their families. The second was a post-wedding photoshoot somewhere “suitably Scottish”.

Why have a post wedding photoshoot?

Honestly, post-wedding photoshoots are such a fab idea. You get your wedding day where you can dress up, get married, hang out with your family and friends and get some ace photos taken. Then a few days later (or weeks, or months, whenever you like!) you get to throw your dress / tartan trews / kilt (delete as applicable) back on and go have an adventure together. As an added bonus you get an extra day with me too. What’s not to like?!

So Joann and Ting’s “Day One” was held at the City Chambers in Glasgow. We got some uber cool, urban city type photos of them both but they knew they wanted to go on full-on Scotland for their second photoshoot. The original plan was to head to Glencoe but when they asked me if I had any other suggestions I immediately thought of Monchyle Mhor. It’s one of the most picturesque places I know. You’ve got mountains, lochs, woodland…it’s just classic Scottish scenery. As soon as you arrive you’ve got the very best of Scotland right in front of you. It’s a bit of a hidden gem and I love taking couples there.

We got so lucky with the weather. This was October after all so I don’t think any of us were expecting great things. The sun shone, the sky was blue and, to top it all off, we were treated to the most amazing sunset. I mean, just look at it. That sky, over the loch. Perfection.

It was super quiet, no one else had braved it in October (more fool them) and we had the place to ourselves. We explored for ages and had such a laugh together. Joann and Ting are really silly together which I love. As we made our way back to the car Joann thought it would make for a brilliant photo if the two of them sat on the bonnet of their Mini. Sounds great in theory. Except they just couldn’t get up there! We were howling with laughter as all their attempts failed spectacularly! Obviously when you can’t climb onto the bonnet of a Mini then the next thing to do is make like Super Mario and jump! It turns out they’re both pretty awesome at jumping, like everyone’s favourite fictional plumber, so they saved face a little bit there, ha!

Go on…do it! I promise we’ll have the best time and I’ll show you some of the best places I know in Scotland. Seriously though, if it’s something you’re thinking about then gimme a shout and we’ll have a chat about it.
